Thank you for this, Katie. I saw the title and thought of Jamie immediately and you both made the bleak day just a little bit better. I can't wait to read your novel.

I got a good chuckle out of this... another reminder. :)

I've been toying with a "back to basics" mantra in my life recently and so this:

"It’s so annoyingly basic that it makes you kind of mad"

made me lol. Here's to the magic of basic! 🪄

Just as more reading begets more reading for those of us on the receiving end.

I’m a teeny weeny bit behind in my reading but I intend to read all of your posts! Reading this I think the idea we have that it’s easier for other people is an unhelpful myth. I get posts out the door but my dad will tell you that almost every week I struggle with it - and I have plenty of photo content and write far fewer words than most! One thing I know, if I write what wants to be written it works. If I try to write something else it doesn’t.

Great job Katie!

Yes! It's so helpful to pull back the curtain and help dismantle that myth. You certainly make it look effortless to me!

I've been behind in my reading and just catching up with your newsletter posts. I'm so happy to hear about your writing. I had never heard of NeNaNoMo (or whatever you call it!) but what a fantastic idea. I've been lagging behind and not jumping into my own writing and I can feel it slipping away because I've gotten out of the groove of writing everyday. This has been helpful to know it may be hard, but half the battle is just sitting at the desk and writing. (Just like I've been showing up on the mat for my yoga.) I'll have to apply that same lesson to my writing. Thanks Katie! And good luck with the rest of the month. I look forward to seeing how the book progresses and look forward to when it ultimately gets published!

Thank you, Kim! It's been helpful to reread all these comments because, while November was successful writing-wise, I've definitely hit a creative wall. I just need to keep showing up!
