I love this so much! It’s also an excellent alternative to gratitude journaling, which doesn’t work for me. Perhaps framing each day with a tiny acknowledgments section is what can work for me.
Acknowledgments are also my favourite part of a book to read. My favourite line ever comes from Mark Manson's "Everything Is Fucked: A Book About Hope" where he thanks his wife: "If I'm ever able to hope for nothing, it will be for the simple reason that I'm already with you." This final line in the book made me tear up like the hopeless romantic that I am. And I'm still pinching myself that years after reading that book, I was able to tell Mark personally (I work for him now) how much that line meant to me.
Yes! I learn about the author and their community through the Acknowledgments; it's part of why I love that section of a book so much. It also gives me other writers or sources to research—and, also also, reminds me that the hardest part of writing is usually (but not exclusively) the mistaken belief that we're doing it alone.
I really enjoyed reading this! Especially the way you ended it with your gratitude acknowledgments! That was a fun way to wrap up your time as a single parent! Love it!
Thank you for pointing people in need toward the suicide prevention network, and also for donating a portion of your proceeds. I loved your conversation about gratitude, one of my favorite subjects. Sharing your thoughts and your dream of becoming an author was also interesting to read. Having just published my first book Lessons of a Wayward Yogini last October, I agreed with much of what you wrote. While I love that I published a book, and don't get me wrong, I'm pretty proud of that, I love blogging and connecting with people real time much more. Returning to this platform late last year was such a joy for me. And I will agree with you, writing my acknowledgements and dedicating my book to someone very special was a highpoint. But you have already figured out that you can do that realtime, any day, in your newsletter. Congrats on becoming a "writer." Keep up the great writing!

Yes! As a fellow book lover, it's a fun exercise!

You should be pretty proud of that, Sue! Publishing a book is an amazing accomplishment. I’m so impressed! (And thanks for the kind words ❤️)
