Katie, I so appreciate your vulnerability with this post. You are doing super hard stuff and you continue to move forward. You go girl! So proud of you!
A very wise friend of mine occasionally tosses out this word, with-in-ness. It was rattling around in my addled brain today, my own reminder of how things are (or aren't with me) Today the aren't's don't stand out as much as the are's. And then I sit down and read your beautiful little post and I feel encouraged to sit in my "w' word for perhaps another day. Your honesty and vulnerability is a real gift you so freely share and I thank you for that. That's a big plus in this world Katie, never a detriment. Keep plugging away at your rehab. Fight that insurance company. Always be the beloved soul you are.
Writing a book is INSANELY hard and the clip you've gone at is incredible! This time of rest is totally deserved and when you come back to it, you're going to read it with an even fresher set of eyes, something that will only benefit the book! <3 Keep going, KHG. You're killing it.
I went to physical therapy last year when I'd given up all hope for my arthritic knees. They were miracle workers. And, still, you have to fight tooth and nail with insurance companies to get access. It just makes no sense. What I love about PT is that, in the end, what they really care about is helping you to feel less pain and doing the things that allow you to live your life. Those aren't always things I feel are top priority in the rest of the medical world. Hope your insurance gives you the go-ahead and that your knee feels better again soon! Also, good luck with the editing.
As a runner (and a football head too), I relate with this so much. I've been sidelined for over 6 months now with a hip injury. I'm starting to give up on my running/football amateur career at 40, but this is not who I want to be at 45: Just someone who walks with pain.
My insurance is a bit more forgiving than yours (why do they even exist?!), but I know most of the PT is self-directed, and for someone who practices the sports so much, there's a level of confidence with knowing the sessions/exercises you have to put in order for you to get better. So, more strength to you!
Feel better soon!
P.S.: It's always football in my head, not soccer. I refuse to give in. 🥲
Thanks, Terrell! The book in progress is a real departure from my typical writing.
It’s about a book club of moms who exclusively read post-apocalyptic novels. Over time, each woman begins to prepare for the apocalypse in her own way — some plans are practical, some are ambitious, and some are outlandish. Then, the power goes out, and it seems like the end of the world might actually be happening. Each of the moms has to put her fictional knowledge and real-life prep work into practice.
It’s normally very fun to write! I’m looking forward to getting back at it 💪

Thank you, Robyn! I’m so glad PT was so helpful for you — that’s encouraging to hear!
Enjoyed this one very much, Katie. All the best with your knee and manuscript! And agree that 'Dear Writer' (and Maggie Smith) is such a gem!
Thank you! I’m so glad it resonated.
Love you. ❤️❤️❤️🌈🌈🌈
Love you too. Thank you for believing in me! 🥹

Thank you! I hope your hip heals and you’re back feeling stronger too!
🙌 You will get there, Katie! (Also, what’s your book about?)
