A pool! Found it on FB marketplace and though it was much harder to put up than the instructions claimed, it has given me my happiest moments this summer. Me, a childless and single nearly 40-year-old woman floating the day away in her backyard inflatable pool.

My favorite pandemic purchase has been a series of actually-nice organizational bins and shelf risers from Open Spaces (damn you, instagram ads, you were right again!!!). Our house is small, and pre-COVID we considered purchasing a house with 2 bathroom sinks, at minimum, for getting ready simultaneously in the morning. Now that we are both permanent WAH? No need! What you said about appreciating every corner of your home resonated so much: as I organize and approach our house with intention, I keep finding more and more to love. Our post-WWII era ~1000 sq ft home has everything we need, I just need to figure out how to arrange it. It feels like a puzzle.

My favorite pandemic purchase is this expandable bamboo kitchen cart! With my living at home for the past 8 months, I’ve got two at-risk parents (doctors) and two at-risk aging grandparents to call housemates. To keep from using the same kitchen as my grandparents, I’ve been turning the basement kitchenette into a full kitchen with a portable cooktop and my old toaster oven. But having some extra chopping/dicing space and stowage made my basement corner feel special, economical, and kind of like I was cooking in a faraway land. While I’m itching to travel again (planned to spend most of my 2020 abroad on writing excursions before #pandemic) I’m also incredibly grateful for this roof over my head and love around me. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/trinity-expandable-surface-kitchen-cart-tty10024.html

I love that a purchase like this can weirdly whisk you away (pun not NOT intended) to your mind's paradise. That's a lovely sentiment!
Best pandemic purchase: Kiehl's skincare!
