"The better version of myself always feels just out of reach. And the lack of storage in our kitchen is the biggest thing standing in my way." <--- Oof. Yes. Same.
Definitely can agree with how making a small change in scenery or your environment can help! I also have a mechanical keyboard at home and it always makes me excited when I get a chance to use it.
Katie girl, you stole my "to-do" list for my house! The kitchen.... enough said.
I love that you moved your desk. As someone who needs light and spends a lot of time outside, I really think that view makes a difference. And the view thing is a little of both, figurative and literal. I'm so jealous you're going on vacation, this girl needs a break from the heat and a trip somewhere. Kind of one of those anywhere but here things. Shooting for August. Fingers and toes crossed.
So many interesting things here. When I was first learning about dreams, my friend Oriah told me that dreams about your home (waking or sleeping) are about how you see yourself in the world. Or said another way, your home represents you the way you see you (not necessarily the way the world sees you). I very (very) rarely ever seem to dream I'm in my own home. I'm always living somewhere else, usually in the house I grew up in. (Although you know in dreams there's always weird variations.) When I read about you always walking around your house thinking what you would change, I wonder if you do that to yourself too? (I am prone to that.) Then I wondered what would happen if I started appreciating my home more for what it does have, so now I want to find a way to practice that!
In my "office" - which is really what was the dining room in my small townhouse - I can't really put my desk against a window. I had a feng shui practitioner evaluate the space last year (remotely - ha, the power of technology!) and she mentioned that having my computer against a wall felt very limiting. So I printed one of my sunrise photos in a 48" x 36" size and put it behind the monitors - it's as close as i can come of having a window view of the lake. I also softened up the metal legs of my desks (multiple small pieces to create what I need due to the small size of my space) by adding two big fabric squares that have hummingbirds embroidered on them. They were meant to be large pillows I think but they were the perfect size and I already had them. This was my way of bringing in nature, softness, and expansiveness in a space I couldn't change. A change of view as you say.

It would fix all our shortcomings, right? 😅
IT'S ALL WE NEED, KATIE!
A small change in perspective can make a difference.

A change in scenery makes all the difference. I hope you and your family enjoy Vermont! Should be just a little bit cooler up here.
