I found the morning routine for me

This is my tenth monthly glimmers post. Usually, these roundups are easy to write. What’s more joyful than reflecting on the bright spots of the past few weeks?

But this month I struggled. Not because January didn’t have its share of glimmers, but because it did. This has been one of my favorite months in a long while, which feels entirely out of touch to admit. With the devastating wildfires in California, the swift horrors of the new presidential administration, an onslaught of viruses that has clobbered so many people I know, and the brutal, bitter cold, it feels strange to call this month a good one.

And yet, it has been. As I was reflecting on January’s glimmers, I realized a big reason the past few weeks have been so nice is because of the foundation I’ve built for myself each day. For the first time in what feels like forever — maybe ever — I’ve settled into a morning routine I truly love. It’s helped me start my day in a calm and gentle way (which, as any parent will tell you, is no small feat!).

So instead of listing out the glimmers I found this month, I thought I’d share a play-by-play of what a typical weekday morning looks like for me.
